A Historic Country Estate Turned Luxury Hotel Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg is rooted in a rich legacy dating back to the 17th century. Originally comprised of two estates—Duin & Bergh (acquired in 1634) and Kruidberg—the properties were unified in the 19th century by the statesman Floris Adriaan Baron van Hall, who also commissioned splendid English-style gardens that endure today. In 1895, Jacob Theodoor Cremer and his wife, Annie Hogan, purchased the combined estate, creating what is now known as Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg. Between 1907 and 1909, they replaced the old manor with the grand neo-Dutch Renaissance country house designed by the Van Nieukerken family of architects. It was officially completed in October 1909 and quickly became a venue for grand gatherings—its first distinguished guest being Prince Hendrik. Following World War II, the estate took on various roles—from a church to housing for repatriates—before transitioning into hospitality. In 1948, the Cremer family leased it as a hotel. In 1961, it became a holiday retreat for ABN AMRO employees, later transforming into a conference center in the 1990s. In 2002, it officially reopened as a luxury hotel, complete with a fine dining restaurant. As of December 23, 2019, Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg is owned by Lucas Petit, founder of Hoscom, a respected hotel group managing several distinct boutique hotels across the Netherlands. Under his ownership, the estate continues to celebrate its history while delivering modern luxury. ABN AMRO Bank.
