The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) is the principal authority responsible for planning, supervising, developing, and marketing Dubai's business and tourism sectors. DET's mission is to
attract inward investment and tourists, positioning Dubai as the world's preferred destination for business and leisure, and supporting its vision to be the best city to live and work in. The department manages a portfolio of entities that include the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing and Dubai Festival and Retail Establishment, and is also responsible for issuing business licenses and classifying tourism businesses like hotels and tour operators.
