Growing up under difficult circumstances, Lil Durk dropped out of high school, joined a Chicago gang and became a father at 17. He began rapping on YouTube and MySpace, dropping his first mixtape with
out a label. It was a huge hit, leading to a joint venture deal to bring his rap collective Only the Family under Def Jam. Collaborating with Dej Loaf, Meek Mill, 21 Savage and others, Durk has been quite the commercial success with six platinum singles. Still, he's experienced significant loss: his cousin, manager, brother and close friend have all been killed.
